American Freestyle Karate offers family classes where a parent has the option of taking martial
arts with their children. The class is taught as a children’s class, however the parent learns the
same techniques and receives a great workout.
These classes are for children ages 4 and up. This program has a detailed curriculum that focuses
on improving not only basic motor skills, listening and life skills, but challenges the student by
adding more traditional martial art training by increasing the level of intensity. Upon completion
of this series, the student will earn a Junior Black Belt if the student is under the age of 14.
The skills learned through this program will help them enter society with more confidence and an
enthusiastic outlook. This program will teach students the importance of goal setting and the
discipline and determination required to reach those goals. They will become better students at
school, better listeners at home and more ambitious in their future outlook.
In addition to learning focus, teamwork, self-control, balance, memory, self-discipline, fitness and
coordination, children will learn the basic martial art skills that will enhance their future martial
art training. This training will also improve their ability to do sports and other activities—by
providing them with enhanced coordination and good teamwork skills—much more so than
children that do not participate in this type program. It will allow your child the added benefit of
self-confidence, self-esteem, and provide an outlet to channel their energy.
Basic mental and physical self defense is also stressed, so you can have the confidence that your
child will know what to do if approached by a stranger, as well as if he/she is bullied on the
playground.
